Ranchi Jharkhand Culture
The culture of Ranchi Jharkhand is a good assimilation of various contrasts that are prevalent in the city. Amongst the total population that is available in this city, 28% of people are tribal, with 12% scheduled castes and the rest 60% belonging to the rest of the communities. Agriculture is the main occupation of most of the people of Ranchi. Mining on coal, limestone, asbestos and ornamental stones are some other occupation of the people of Ranchi.
The major language spoken here is Nagpuri and Hindi, though English is also prevalent and almost 10% of the people speak Bengali too. Predominant religions followed here are Hinduism, Jainism, Buddhism, Islam and Christianity. The tribal population have their own religious beliefs called Sarna.
However due to predominant Christian influence there have been many tribal converts. Conventionally Jharkhand has been known as home for several tribal communities. These communities are known for developing and excelling in art and culture of the place. Traditionally the folk music and dances of Jharkhand are very popular. Traditional dance and music is played on many occasions in Jharkhand or also at the time of any community celebrations. In addition to the traditional dance and music, the culture of art is also very popular from this area, and there are many reputable artists that have their roots truly grounded in the Ranchi Jharkhand.
